Sarvesh Kumar Saluja, Principal Associate, JSA

Sarvesh has been engaged in several transactions and projects as a senior member of legal teams handling diverse aspects of corporate and commercial laws. He has extensive experience on strategic investments, structuring, foreign investment, joint ventures and acquisitions across industry sectors with a special emphasis on technology and telecom sectors. Sarvesh’s practice also includes telecom advisory as well as commercial contracting aspects. He has conducted internal audits of telecom companies to ascertain compliance level, advised on the risk associated and devised mitigation strategy for the same. Ascertaining the correct license on the basis of client’s need is another area he has worked on.

  • Part of the team that advised NewCall Telecom Limited in acquisition of O-Zone Networks Private Limited, an internet service provider in India.

  • Part of the team that advised Cool Japan Fund, a Japanese public-private fund on its Series E equity investment of USD 23 million in Gojo & Company, Inc., a financial service-providing company based out of Japan.

  • Advised Mercer on various aspects of OSP and other telecom laws.
  • Advised Vivo on queries regarding implanting default International Mobile Equipment Identity on device handsets.
  • Advised Lava International on issues pertaining to registration/license requirements for handset manufacturers.
  • Advised UBS India on various aspects of the OSP registration.
  • Part of the team that advised MNP Interconnection on regulatory issues relating to number portability and interconnection agreement with telecom service providers.
  • Part of the team that advised Ring Central on regulatory issues including grant of license, acquisition of numbers, data centers and export of data.
  • Part of the team that advised BMW on its proposed model on the M2M Services/IOT services.
  • Part of the team that advised Uniconnect Sim Private Limited on issues pertaining to teleconferencing in India.

 

IT Advisory

  • Advised PayU India on issues pertaining to retention and sharing of data.
  • Advised Sigfox Singapore Pte. Ltd. on issues pertaining to data privacy and local hosting requirements.
  • Part of the team that advised HCL in its contractual disputes with a statutory body.

 

Telecom/Technology contractual

  • Drafted and reviewed contracts for Reliance Jio for installation of inbuilt solutions for its network.
  • Reviewed contracts for Sterlite Technologies for sub-contracting the deployment of next generation IP MPLS network.
  • Part of the team that reviewed the tender by Chhattisgarh Government for deployment of network and distribution of free mobile handsets and SIMs.
  • Secondment to British telecom for 2 years wherein regularly drafted, reviewed and negotiated various telecom and technology related contracts.
  • Secondment to Accenture for 6 months wherein regularly drafted, reviewed and negotiated various technology related contracts like system integration contracts etc
