Demerger of Nagarnar iron and steel plant from NMDC Limited to NMDC Steel Limited

JSA advised and represented the Department of Investment and Public Asset Management, Government of India, in the demerger of iron and steel plant (located in Nagarnar, Chhattisgarh) from NMDC Limited to NMDC Steel Limited.

NMDC Limited is one of the largest iron ore producers in India, majorly owned by Government of India, under the administrative control of the Ministry of Steel. It has been involved in the exploration of a wide range of minerals including copper, rock phosphate, limestone, magnesite, diamond, tungsten and beach sands in some of the most remote corners of the country.
The demerger is pursuant to the ‘in-principle’ approval of the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs chaired by Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi.

The deal value is approx. INR 17,048 crores.
