Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in India is governed by the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999 (FEMA) and a series of rules, regulations, policies, circulars, notifications, and press notes that collectively form the “FDI Regulations.”
These regulations define the framework for foreign investments, specifying eligible investors, permissible investee entities, types of securities, entry routes, sector-specific caps, and conditions on FDI.
